Honestly, I don't know how stock the car is (or was). The noises don't really bother me unless something about it doesn't sound right. Breathe on the gas pedal and it goes away, also disengaging the clutch makes it go away.
Yes, only on decel mostly within normal driving RPM above 20mph, moreso around 40mph. It steers smoothly, brakes and accels smooth and straight, and the engine feels strong and the car has no bad habits, just this engine braking noise. It has a new timing belt, clutch, tires, windshield. Rear diff fluid looked like chocolate milk when it came out. Engine got RP 10w30 and M1 filter, Tranny got RL 75w90ns, and rear diff for RL 75w90. Higher rpm seems to make it a little more obvious, possibly due to the higher load.Ībout 75 miles ago I did fluids and it shifts noticeably smoother, but the noise is still there. At low speed or low rpm the grinding noise is not there at all, I can only hear faint gear whine. Seems to happen mostly around 40mph or 3000 rpm, any gear. I can't quite pin down if its speed related or engine rpm related. I expect gear whine, but not this grinding vibration noise. The noise sounds like something dragging or rolling rough, I'd first assume its a bearing on its last leg but I don't want to jump to any conclusions. She drives great, except for a handful of squeaks, creaks and rattles.Īnyways, the transmission is making a strange deceleration noise/vibration when coasting in gear (engine braking).
